Little did I know that this state would turn out to be one of my favorites on this journey. I'm sure there was more to see, but these stops were my highlights.

Enjoying the lake

The water looks a little gross, but if you can get past the color, it is refreshing!

Great place to stop for FREE ice water, trinkets, dead animal museums, bland food, or a rabbit foot keychain. Lots of history here.

South Dakota

Most people flock to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore and Crazy horse.  Both are amazing sights!  I drove West from Vermillion State Park.  I have to say that this was my #2 favorite campsite (after Grant Village in Yellowstone) on my journey. Here are a few images from this state:  Enjoy!  I sure did.

This is what I woke up to each day. Just me, Maggie and the lake.

The lake right off of the campsite. It was so peaceful.

Maggie Trying to Swim

Poor Maggie isn’t the best swimmer in the dog world, but she tries.

We could play in the water all day!

The end of a perfect day.

If you haven’t explored the state, I would recommend that you do. There is so much to see and explore in the area. If nothing else, Mt. Rushmore was amazing!

Hey again! I just commented on your Yellowstone post. Well, SD was amazing as well. Mt Rushmore was also on my top five of places I fell in love with on my drive. Ill never forget the feeling that rushed over me, it was emotional! When I drove around the bend and I laid eyes on the side on Lincoln—words will never express the power of what I felt. I havent posted about that stop yet, I plan to, I think this is yet another place that must been seen in a lifetime. Truly amazing. S you were in SD and didnt hit the Badlands?! :O

My husband really wants a teardrop trailer. Is it worth it? Your trip looks beautiful. I did not have South Dakota on my travel list but I have to add it now.
