Somerville Recording Studio: A Little Taste of Retro

Located in Davis Square,Somerville's own Q Division Studios boasts some of the biggest name clients in music. Their ever increasing client roster includes The Dropkick Murphys, Aimee Mann and The Click Five. With a friendly, knowledgeable and talented dork-genius staff, the folks over at Q make the recording experience super productive and pretty darn near painless. The ambiance is truly retro. Think your hippie uncle's high school bedroom mixed with the crispness of Ikea. Play some Frogger on the authentic Atari in the Lounge while an intern picks up your lunch, or some Foosball while you wait for one of the Engineers to comp the tracks your drummer just recorded. Q Division's list of gear is staggering and includes tons of hard to find and vintage guitar amps, microphones and keyed instruments. (My fave is the Wurlitzer in the B Room Lounge) Lots of parking and proximity to public transportation are just a couple of the many reasons to love Q.
