Seattle Suggestions for Kris and Martin
I love the Ace Hotel – quintessential modern. The en-suite rooms are spacious and beautiful, but its also fun to share the building with the hostel set staying in the cheaper rooms. The Ace and the Inn at El Gaucho are both in Belltown, which is adjacent to downtown, but a lot cooler.

This is a restaurant, but has a small hotel upstairs. Also modern, but a bit homier than Ace.

The Andra is less funky than El Gaucho and Ace, but very cool and also not a big chain.

Suggestion from Maia: Views. Rooms. Easy access to great breakfast.
Seattle is hilly and spread out like San Francisco so stay where you want to be in the morning - on the waterfront! Or hoofing it around downtown between 1st and 4th.

Seattle has so many great restaurants, it’s hard to pick. My guides list some:

Across the street from the Ace and El Gaucho, fantastic rolls and very good coffee for breakfast.

This is a big Asian market with stalls selling sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, and all kinds of cool stuff. A nice option might be to pick up lunch here, then walk down to Pioneer Square or the waterfront for a picnic.

This is a nice museum, but mostly I love the building and the setting. Beautiful location in Volunteer Park.

Bainbridge Island
A fun trip is to go out to Bainbridge Island for lunch or just to walk around. The ferry is inexpensive and gives you a beautiful view of downtown as you go across the sound.
Ferry Schedule
There is a fun little farmer’s market on Bainbridge, but the last day is the 25th:
Farmer’s Market
There are a number of cafes and restaurants close to the ferry terminal on Bainbridge – I ate at one, but wasn’t particularly memorable.
In addition to being an interesting museum, this is a wild Frank Ghery building. Right next to the Space Needle.
