Breakfast - quite possibly the most important yet most forgotten meal of the day. Besides starting the day off filling up with delicious foods, breakfast (or brunch) is often the perfect time to play catchup with close friends (Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's optional). Emerald Dandy has done some painstaking research finding some of Seattle's best breakfast spots - so be sure to check them out!

Breakfast Spots

Chace's Pancake Corral

Somehow find yourself on the Eastside after a long night of partying? Or maybe you’re just looking for a good old fashioned stack of pancakes? Make your way over to Chace’s Pancake Corral – where the decor is as old as the mom and pop who own it. My personal favorite are the banana pancakes, a trusty stack of delicious pancakes covered in bananas and drizzled in coconut syrup.

Pesos

Okay, so I know I’ve not always been one to recommend Peso’s based off it’s crowd and music selection (which I still stand by) but damn do they make a mean brunch. The perfect place for a hangover cure, head to Peso’s for their breakfast happy hour and save yourself some dough. Be forewarned, the excessive music and blondina crowd you avoided the night before will still be there when you arrive…

Macrina Bakery

For when you’re looking for a quick breakfast on the go, Macrina is your place. Located on Queen Anne and in Belltown, the pastries here are simply divine. Don’t ask me why, but I for some reason find myself going back to the quiches each time I visit.

5 Spot

Located at the top of the counterbalance, you can always count on 5 Spot for a delicious breakfast. With a revolving menu as well as the reliable staples, 5 Spot always fills up quickly, so get there early if you can! Word to the wise: if there are two of you, your chances of getting in will be much quicker than that of a larger party.

Hi Life

In the heart of Downtown Ballard in a former firehouse (complete with fireman’s pole), Hi Life is similar to that of 5 Spot. Classic breakfasts mixed with a revolving menu, I recommend Hi Life over 5 Spot only because you’ll be more likely to get a table a little bit easier (Hi Life is much bigger). If you love apple juice I’d opt for it here, I don’t think I’ve ever had better!

Portage Bay Cafe

Feeling in the mood to eat a little healthier? Portage Bay takes pride in their organic menu, and they most certainly do it up right. With a location in the U District as well as South Lake Union, you definitely need to get there quickly as both locations fill up fast.

Salty's on Alki

Wanting to splurge? In the mood for all you can eat? Hit up Salty’s on Alki – though it might set you back a few more dollars than you might like, it’s absolutely worth it. Not only do you get aisle’s of all you can eat, but a spectacular view of the Seattle skyline. Afterwards be sure to walk off your excess weight from brunch binging down Alki Way, one of my favorite places to visit on a sunny day.

I admit I clicked on this guide because it’s 1 a.m. here in Boston and I am starving and deciding what I want to have for breakfast. I think I’ll hop a flight to Seattle and head to the pancake Corral. Meet me there?
