2. The Beachcomber

2901 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA

A stones throw from the beach, this South Mission dive comes complete with surfers and sand on the floor.

Reviews:

  • “Mission Beach’s Cheers”

Tips: Unlike other area bars, taxi drivers know the place well, as most everyone who leaves after midnight cabs it home. Walking at night in South Mission, even to nearby PB parking lots, isn’t done.

The Beachcomber

3. The Tavern

1200 Garnet Ave, San Diego, CA

It’s a little grittier than the rest of its Garnet Street brethren, but this bar still packs ’em in.

Tips: If you’re thinking of getting a group of people together here for a birthday or anniversary party, call a few weeks ahead—the management is more than happy to help you organize the festivities by way of tables, food and drinks.
