The Dixie Pig's specialty is barbecue shredded pork with a number of different sauces, including the vinegar-based sauce that is common to Eastern North Carolina. The owners are from Wilmington, North Carolina and serve only the best and most authentic barbecue. I have never met a barbecue that I didn't like, but until I discovered the Dixie Pig I thought that my craving for the Eastern North Carolina style would be satisfied only by infrequent trips to visit family in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Dixie Pig is as good as any in Wilmington, the service is true Southern-style friendly, and the prices are reasonable. All seating is outdoors under a covered patio, but even at lunchtime on the hottest South Florida August days, it is comfortable and pleasant. It is very busy, as its quality and prices are widely known, and the clientèle are from all walks of life and businesses.
