Summer sun and best friends

If you haven’t been out much this summer, I don’t know what to say other than what are you thinking? Summer brings beautiful weather and I dunno about you but I try to be outside as much as I can. You know… soak up the sun and enjoy this life i’ve got. One of my favorite ways of enjoying summer is doing something outside with my favorite people. Me and all of my friends plan day trips to the mountains, picnic’s or just spend time in fields with open space. Whatever it is, i’ve found that the way to FULLY enjoy the summertime weather is when you’re with people who mean something to you. So get them together and go do somethinnngggggg!

Try longboarding! My friend Lauren and I go to a neighboorhood by our houses with good hills to ride. My friend Trevor rides his longboard to work and delivers pizza’s to houses that are close. My friend Eli is an idiot and holds onto a car while he rides it down valley parkway (dont ever do anything Eli would do is what we say). But, I’ve noticed a lot of people around Denver are starting to ride longboards around. It’s dem ridiculous gasssss prices. I may just start longboarding from Littleton to Denver every morning for work. Ahhh, typing that just made me sleepy. But longboards are a great to cruise around on outside!

Catch up on them zzzz's!

Because summertime= late nights, late nights= sleeping in.

And working early= evening naps.

Sleeping is like being in heaven, is it not? Sleep is so good that I could probably sleep my summer away if I wasn’t careful. I’m surrounded by friends who just sleep, sleep, sleep and sleep. If I call any of my guys friends between 4 and 6, its usually no answer and then a call back that usually sounds something like: “sorry dude, I was sleeping.” or “Madeleine, I fell asleep on my porch again.” I know what you’re thinking. Oh, teenagers. But summer is for relaxing, so catch up on them z’s while you can.

Outdoor shows!

Outdoor shows are by far the best. There are a few good outdoor music festivals going on in Colorado this summer. And if you’re not in Colorado, or want to make a road trip out of one, there are some good ones in other states and Canada. Make it a party and go with a bunch of your friends. What’s better than good music surrounded by good friends? Mmm, not a whole lot.

And what about Redrocks Ampitheatre! We’re so incredibly lucky to live in the home of one of the most beautiful venues in the worllddddd!

Watch the sunset

I don’t care how out of sight you are from the horizon or how impatient you may you, you’ve got to do this sometime this summer. I swear it will make you feel a little more alive. Just the other night I spent an hour and a half or something watching the sun set behind the mountains at the greatest spot ever, where you could see nothing but the mountain range stretched out across the horizon and the sun. It stays warm out for forever and this is the perfect time to be outside. Bring some good friends and portable ipod speakers and you’re good to go. Trust me, you’ll want to do this more often once you witness it once. It’s the main reason why I dreadddddddddd the arrival of the winter. ew.

Go to Daniels Park in Highlands Ranch, its absolutely perfect.

Basics

  • BBQ- der.
  • Pool- I spend hours on end with my friends at the pool on the weekends.
  • Waterworld- always have to go atleast once. Make a party out of it! Those white slides are the best.
  • Eliches- In the EVERYDAY words of my friend Corey, “hey guys, anyone wanna go to eliches?” haha.
  • Dining on the outdoor patio- I always love it when the host at a restaurant has to ask: “Would you like to sit outside on the patio?” It makes me happy for the summer. Get your friends or family- or both- together and go eat out at a bomb restaurant with a patio or deck. :)
  • Sonic- mm.

Outdoor Goods! #2

Get a frisbee! Like what… $3 at walmart?... if you don’t already have one. Oh! Anyone ever heard of frolfing? Apparently it’s an actual sport.

AVOID:

  • Heat rash… gross.
  • Too many popsicles can result in stomach aches.
  • Over heated car seats, ouch ouch ouch.
  • Run in’s with police. They’re on top of their things in the summertime.
  • Life guards who want to get off work early. ( I know a life guard who pooped in our community pool because he wanted to get off early, hahahahaahah.)

Park Hunting! Me and my best friend Elise made a goal at the beginning of the summer to find the best park in colorado. We haven’t really gone that far to find them, but we have gone a ways out of the way and found some prime park spots. Spend time in a few.
