Places to go in Riverwest, Milwaukee, WI
Riverwest is an up-and-coming neighborhood in the great city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This place is home to hippies & hip-hop lovers. There's something for everyone, especially on a budget.
The Gig has three lounge areas where you can sink into their sofas and throw back a couple of $1.50 rail drinks (on Wednesday). The walls feature black and white photos of music legends. Speaking of which, Wednesday also features Dim Peepers “the folky, jazzy, bluesy sounds of Riverwests own” from 8-10.

The Uptowner is the place to get down. They have good drink specials on Wednesday, which is also the night that Kid Cut Up plays. If you haven’t heard of Kid Cut Up, he’s part of the No Request Crew and he plays great music you can dance & drink to. Just be careful because this place is known to get people on the wrong side of drunk!

Fuel Cafe has free WiFi for your surfing needs, as any good coffee shop should. They also make some good, cheap sandwiches that come with uniquely seasoned tortilla chips. Even if the kitchen is closed there are still some tasty options in the glass cooler at the counter. I’m not a big coffee drinker but I loved the Peanut Butter Cup Mocha!

Art Bar is a great place to go to get inspired, and drunk at the same time! All the walls are covered with art created by local artists. Every piece is for sale and the price tag is right there so you know whether you can afford it, and not have to ask the bartender. It’s easy to relax and indulge the senses. I like to move to a different spot in the bar every time I get a new drink so I can feast my eyes on something new.
