The lovely thing about Colorado is you can drive for 2-4 hours each day and hit some AMAZING places. These are my favorites...I took this road trip on my own with my two kiddos (aged 2 and 3.5 years at the time). We camped at whatever was available (KOAs, National Parks, etc...). Sometimes we did 2 or 3 sites each day and other places, we stayed for a whole day....Lots of hot springs swimming pools included in this tour...

The City and County of Denver is the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located on the plains just east of the Rocky Mountains and forms the heart of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. The central downtown district is on the east side of the South Platte River, near its confluence with Cherry Creek, approximately fifteen miles from the foothills.Denver is the county seat of, and shares the same borders with, Denver County — one of the few consolidated city-counties in the United States. According to 2004 Census estimates [1], the city has a population of 556,835 and ranks as the 25th-largest in the United States and the sixth-largest state capital. The Denver Regional Council of Governments estimated that the 2005 population of the city was 579,744 [2] (unofficial). The population of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area was about 2,330,146, making it the twenty second-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. [3]. The city claims to have the tenth largest downtown in the United States [4].Denver is nicknamed "The Mile-High City" because its official elevation, measured on the fifteenth step of the state capitol building's west side, is one statute mile (5,280 feet or 1,609 meters) above sea level. Also, a row of seats in the upper deck of Coors Field, home of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies (NL), is marked in purple (one of the team's colors) to indicate that the row is one mile above sea level. The city's elevation, as surveyed at Denver International Airport, is 5,431 ft (1,655 m).Denver has also been known historically as the Queen City of the Plains because of its important role in the agricultural industry of the plains regions along the foothills of the Front Range. Several US Navy ships have been named USS Denver in honor of the city.

Georgetown is a town in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,088 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Clear Creek CountyGR6. The town sits at an elevation of 8,530 ft, nestled in the mountains near the upper end of the valley of Clear Creek in the mountains west of Denver along Interstate 70. Although a small town today, the town was a historic center of the mining industry in Colorado during the late 19th century and at one time was the third largest community in the state, earning the nickname the "Silver Queen of Colorado". It has evolved into a lively historical summer tourist center today with many preserved structures from the heyday of the Colorado Silver Boom. The town stretches roughly north-south along Clear Creek, hemmed in by the mountains, with the historic downtown located at the southern (upper) end and modern development located at the northern (lower) end of town.

Pagosa Springs is a town in Archuleta County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,591 at the 2000 census. Although it is speculated that, including the entire county, it could have up to 8,000 people. It is hard to tell due to the amount of people that only live here on a seasonal basis and not permanently. It is the county seat of Archuleta CountyGR6."Downtown Pagosa Springs" was the final destination for a duo of truckers in the 1975 Country song Wolf Creek Pass by C.W. McCall. U.S. Highway 160 from the pass to town goes through a vertical drop of around 5,000 feet, and is described in the song as "hairpin county and switchback city".
