This Guide Smells Like a Middle School Dance
I don't wear perfume. It gives me a headache, actually. But ... back in the day I layered the smelly stuff on all the time. What scents did YOU wear?
Electric Youth
I’m pretty confident an almost empty bottle remains in the upstairs medicine cabinet at my mom’s house.
Sunflowers
At the time, I was really into sunflowers. As room decor and t-shirt appliques. Of COURSE I got Sunflowers for some sort of gift giving holiday.
The scent, eventually, made me feel like I was going to puke. I shoved it in my Caboodle and never used it again!
JeanNate
Admittedly, JeanNate belonged to my mom. But I would steal some every now and again.
Curve
Perfume AND a can? Nice!
Abercrombie and Fitch Cologne
Every single boy I had a crush on had to wear this, it was their test and if they did- I loved them forever. Or at least for the duration of highschool.
Ex'cla-ma'tion
I thought that I was THE coolest when I carried Exclamation around in my Espirit purse.
Preferred Stock
“Boy I hope that cute boy that I crush soooo hard on but don’t even talk to asks me to dance” choice #1.
Drakkar Noir
“Boy I hope that cute boy that I crush soooo hard on but don’t even talk to asks me to dance” choice #2.
Love's Baby Soft
My Big Sissy wore Baby Soft. I remember her jean jacket being all full of pins and smelling like baby powder.
I think I got an almost empty hand-me-down bottle. Boy, what a good sister!
CK1
Who didn’t wear this stuff? I had to match my CK1 jeans!
Clinique Happy
Ironic since “Happy” was the word used least frequently to describe me during my middle school years. Topping the list would have been Awkward, Dorky and Unphotogenic.
Cool Water
Even Snoop Dog rapped about his Cool Water calogne. I wore it until someone told me I smelled like a stripper.
Vanilla Fields
I wore this during most of high school, not sure why. It wasn’t that great smelling LOL.

Camp Hill
I like bunnies, tucking my jeans inside of my boots, being in warm places, Shooter Jennings, Coca-Cola, photos taken in photo booths, boys who are made of 'snakes and snails and puppy dog tails', and recycling paper.
