Patient care technicians, or PCTs, work under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses to assist patients with tasks they may not be able to do for themselves while they are staying in hospitals, assisted living facilities, and rehabilitation centers. PCTs oftentimes play a critical role in the delivery of patient care, since they are likely to have more contact with patients than any other member of the health care team. Those interested in becoming a patient care technician must first complete a 6 month program, which are offered through Sunshine Career Institute Inc.
