Mom and Dad You Were Right...
Yes, I will be the first to admit that I should have listened to my parents more growing up. What kid listens ALL the time though? As it turns out, they were right about A LOT of things. Not all of them bad though. They believed in me and well... that took me places. What were your parents right about? Come on, admit you were wrong.
"You are going to turn into me one day!"
Like mother, like daughter.
My mother still tells me this. That’s fine, I have accepted it now. When I laugh I am reminded of you, or when I wear my sweat pants all day I am reminded of you. Also, thanks for the coffee addiction. You started that one!
Hey, at least people tell us we look like Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn!
"You're goin' places."
You were right about that too. I feel like I’m going somewhere and I’ve been many places. When I find out where I’m going I’ll let you know. For now, my bags are packed and I’ve accomplished much. You’ve been right so far…
Too Many to Choose From
So what’s scary is that I can’t think of one instance where my Mom has been right, because it seems like she’s ALWAYS right. Totally creepy, and totally annoying.
"You're going to poke your eye out......"
So, I haven’t ACTUALLY poked my eye out….my eyes are intact (thank you God), however I have learned that I should NEVER, EVER hold a pair of chopsticks. It’s too dangerous.
"You will learn to appreciate this one day!"
My appreciation and love for the classics all began…
When I was younger, my mother would vacuum the house to The Who, Duran Duran, and Madonna. I used to scream that the music was too loud and she needed to turn it down.
Well, she was right. I APPRECIATE THIS! I turn my Duran Duran and Madonna up just as loud. Except it’s the neighbors who scream at me.
"You taste buds are going to change one day."
Yep, you were right mom and dad. They did change. I no longer just like plane noodles with nothing on them but salt, or just grilled cheese for dinner. However, I still like that stuff, ok. Spinach and anything green are my favs, and I’m always open to new things!
"You're going to find the right guy someday..."
I wished I’d listened to my dad on this one. I dated a lot of losers before I found Josh. My dad would always say, after every heartache, “I know it hurts right now, but someday, you’ll find a good man who treats you right and fall head over heels for him.” I wished I’d just listened to him and not dated some of those guys and just waited. I would’ve saved myself a lot of grief and regret.

I am not loyal to any one place that serves up coffee. I like to hop around from place to place until I have found the perfect cup of coffee, or at least until my heart gives out.
I love to poke fun at people, places, and circumstance. You can be a Coffee Slut too. Let's chat over a cup...
