I think it would be so cool to visit -- not land in, or fly over, or drive though, but visit -- each of our fifty states during my lifetime. And while every state has its bad, they all have their unique, quirky, and one-of-a-kind draws and characteristics.
What was your favorite thing about the state you grew up in, or about a state you've lived in or visited? Was it a place, the weather, the food, the men (or ladies) that made it so great? What do you love about where you live now? Add them all here!
Ri Ra is one of the coziest, most authentic Irish pubs I’ve ever been in. There is the main bar/dining area, but go through a side door and you think you’re in Ireland: think a dark room with wooden tables and chairs and thick Irish accents. A must-visit!

Old coastal towns
Massachusetts is steeped in history, and its small coastal towns symbolize it all. From spots like Marblehead, Glouchester, and Newburyport on the north shore, to Scituate and Cohasset on the south shore, these quaint towns and cities have winding streets, much of the original architecture, and great little downtown areas where some of the country’s first settlers built their communities. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else but coastal Massachusetts!
Yes it’s cold as anything living in New Hampshire in the winter. But I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for the campus at the University of New Hampshire in the winter. Everything is so pretty after a fresh snow and it just felt like home to me.
PA or bust! Born and raised in the steel town of Pittsburgh, the only thing to get you through the always terrible seasons the Pirates (baseball) have is the Pierogi races. Makes me laugh every time!
Amazing that this ACTIVE volcano sits so tall and visible from many areas of Seattle. I lived in South Seattle, and you would turn a corner and the mountain would fill up like almost half all of your windshield… yet, it was still hours away from the base… Beautiful… Until it explodes again, but until then, beautiful!
