The Best & Worst of Oscar Fashion: 2009
I don't know about you, but I wasn't too impressed by most of the choices made at this year's Oscars. Which fashion was your favorite -- and which totally flopped?
Mickey Rourke
Even though in my heart of hearts I didn’t think Mickey Rourke deserved the Oscar, when I saw him slouched in the audience of the Oscars in this amazing ensemble, I desperately wanted to see him get up on stage. He looks AWESOME.
Amy Adams
I think Amy Adams always looks amazing. Sometimes it looks funny when redheads wear red, but I think she looks awesome. And I LOVE her necklace.
John Legend
Wow. That is a nice suit.
Alicia Keys
I’m digging the color slightly more than the actual dress, but it was nice to see some color on the red carpet for once! Okay, and I’m slightly biased by the fact that I just painted an apartment wall this color and was uncertain Home Depot’s “Orchid Kiss” was really the way to go. I feel vindicated as another Alicia who likes the color!
Freida Pinto
Normally I’d hate Freida Pinto for being so pretty, but for some reason I can’t. I think this dress might have spelled d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r on someone else, but it looks amazing on her.
Sarah Jessica Parker
I looooved SJP’s frothy princess gown!
Melissa Leo
This dress is not perfect (it’s a bit weird how it matches her hair so well), but she looks so dang happy that you can’t NOT love it (and her(and her movie)) and I do really like the jeweled accents on the sleeves, not to mention the fact that it HAS sleeves and it totally age appropriate.
Heidi Klum
Not everyone enjoyed this look – but I think Heidi pulled off this RM gown with perfection!
Penelope Cruz
This is a frothy I can get behind: vintage, intricate, lovely.
Beyonce
If you needed another reason to wish ill upon Beyonce (I know I didn’t, especially after that ridiculous dance number with Hugh Jackman), I think she made a dress out of your grandmother’s nicest curtains.
Jessica Biel
I think it’s pretty much unanimously agreed that Jessica Biel has one of the most enviable bodies in Hollywood, so when her dress calls to mind words like “frumpy” , “lumpy” and “amorphous,” it probably wasn’t the best choice. WTF is up with this bedsheet masquerading as couture? If I had her physique, I would go everywhere in spandex.
So, let’s call this the official Guidespot beginning of Jessica Biel pregnancy rumours. I have no other explanation.
The Telegraph agrees with me.
Sarah Jessica Parker - Flop I think
I see someone added SJP as one of the favorites but I hate this dress and she just looks funny to me.
Nicole Kidman - Flop
What the hell is that thing on her chest? It looks like one of those spiny fish that you don’t want to step on.
Kate Winslet
It’s a stretch to call it a flop, probably since the shape of this blue number suits Kate quite well, but I personally feel it’s a little blah. She’s a stunning, larger than life STAR (you may have heard of a little film called TITANIC!!), not to mention the fact that her body has been looking rockin’ lately, so I think she could have taken a much bigger risk with a brighter color, or maybe metallic and most definitely a big fat necklace. Try harder!
Marion Cotillard
Hey it’s that chick you’ve never heard of from that French movie you never saw who won the Oscar last year! And she’s wearing a dress leftover from the prom episode of 90210 in 1995. Sequins? Tulle? I thought the French were all about Le Sophistication.
Vanessa Hudgens
Ok, Morticia.
FLOP- Poor Whoopi
Who told her leopard print, from head to toe, in chiffon? was a good idea???
