Here are five things to check before hiring a kitchen or bath remodeling contractor:

1. Does he have the appropriate license under his own name.
2. Does he have liability, workmen’s compensation and auto insurance.
3. Are all the workmen that will be on your project covered by these insurance policies or policies of their own.
4. Does he have a physical location where you can find him and also view the designs and materials he is recommending.
5. Does he have at least 12 recent clients, with similar projects, you can contact to find out how they were treated and would they recommend him.
