Some rock and alternative music venues in and around the New Orleans area.

This is a can’t miss venue if you want to see live Jazz in New Orleans. This place has a great show lined up everynight of the week. Ellis Marsalis every friday and the rest of the family stops in from time to time.

Doubling as a laundromat and bar, Checkpoint Charlie’s is the only place I know of where you can have a pint and check out a variety of live music while your clothes are washing. This place is well known amongst local rock fans for their morning till night Mardi Gras day rock extravaganza.

One Eyed Jacks

One Eyed Jacks is one of my personal favorites. They host many of the slightly more obscure national touring acts such as Pee Lander Z and Bonnie Prince Billie as well as local favorites like Quintron, Suplecs, and The New Orleans Bingo Show. They are also known for their regularly scheduled old fashioned burlesque shows that echo the overall ambience of the club.

House of Blues

225 Decatur St New Orleans , LA 70130

The Howlin' Wolf

907 SOUTH PETERS St New Orleans, LA 70130

The Republic

828 South Peters St New Orleans, LA

Stylistically posh this venue is the current “in” location for the college crowd. The sound isn’t that great and the drinks are expensive. Even if you don’t want to go there its hard not to with the great line up of national acts they have been booking.
