Movies That Made Me Cry Like A Baby

I pride myself on the fact that I don't cry at your typical tearjerking movies. I have told the story time and time again that when I was dragged to see The Notebook, my date was the one who had to run to the bathroom for tissue, and not me. But here are a few films that make me misty every time, no matter how strong I try to be!

Maybe it’s the fact that Jack kind of looks like my dad. Maybe it’s Ndugu. I think I’m just a sucker for movies that face the facts about growing old. They say nothing could ever prepare a man for this strange certainty. The last shot always makes me lose it.

I know – I never thought Ben Mackenzie could make me cry outside of the O.C.! But he is actually completely convincing in this role. The Country Mouse/City Mouse dichotomy is portrayed so flawlessly in this homecoming piece, that it leaves me stunned every time I watch. Notice the dad’s woodworking, the meircat videotape, and the shocking church basement performance. The subtleties will make your eyes brim.

The dramatic sprawling soundtrack, and the unexpected tenderness that forms between grouchy old Dora and pure little Josue combine to make me tear up every time. If you haven’t seen this, you really must! Another gripping exploration of age, mortality and purpose.

Cried like a baby…for an HOUR! I saw it at the theater in college and my friends had always given me sh*t for never crying at movies—I rarely do! Then for the last 20 minutes of the movie, I SOBBED. I SOBBED in the car on the way home. I SOBBED when we were ordering Indian take-out as I managed to squeeze out a tearful “chicken curry.” Sad stuff, man. I loved the movie, but haven’t seen it since.

Life is Beautiful is one of the best films ever made and it is incredibly emotional- I cry every single time I see it without fail. Kleenex are a must.

Even though I’m not head over heels for Zach Braff, this movie is really beautiful and when I saw it, I bawled.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I nearly cried in the preview for “the Wrestler”

I like to overdress, I don't understand musical theater, and I'm always the one who changes the message in a game of Telephone.
