Mosquito Cafe, located in the Historical District of Galveston Island, is a great place to dine when spending a day at the beach.

Mosquito Cafe was selected by the Zagat Survey as One of the Top 15 Restaurants in the Houston Metropolitan Area, and was also voted by Galveston County residents as Best Overall Restaurant in Galveston County, Best Business Lunch, and number one in Friendliest Service. They weren’t exaggerating! The restaurant accommodates both indoor and outdoor (pet friendly!) dining, as well as an eclectic mixture of delectable dishes. All of the cafe’s employees were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and even the owner himself came by our table to say hello and have a brief chat.

What I Ate 02

Mosquito Cafe’s veggie burger was recommended to me and boy did it exceed my expectations. The actual patty is handmade in the cafe’s kitchen and is absolutely to-die-for delicious. I got mine with savory grilled veggies on the side. Even meat-lovers will enjoy Mosquito’s unique and savory veggie burger.

Shelley Barnes, of DineOut says,

" The space is pure charm…, with its huge window panes, high ceiling, mustard interior, bright hardwoods and antique glass."

What I Ate 01

I ordered the cafe’s spinach pasta, and didn’t leave any leftovers. The pasta consists of a luscious and savory combination of penne pasta sauteed with fresh spinach, roma and sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, fresh herbs, and topped with feta and parmesan cheese. Being a vegetarian, I didn’t opt for chicken or shrimp in my pasta, but both are available upon request.

Texas summers can be unbearably hot, but Mosquito Cafe’s courtyard offers plenty of shade as well as fans that give off a light mist.

What I Ate 03

I finally made it out to Mosquito Cafe on a Sunday, when breakfast is ordered all day. I ordered a vegetarian omelette and it was unlike any other omelette I have eaten. Made with spinach, Moquito’s vegetarian omelette is stuffed full of delicious veggies which makes for an extremely unique and absolutely delicious breakfast dish.
