Where to Wait in Line in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is way overpopulated (the traffic and ridiculous property values are a testament to that,) and as a result there are long lines for anything worth waiting for and in some cases some things that are definitely NOT worth waiting for). That being said, you should probably stay away from these places during peak hours, Unless you have a weird DMV line fetish.
Every Saturday night Cinespia shows movies here, and every Saturday night it gets crowded as HELL. I’ve been turned away from this place more times than I’ve actually been admitted. Leave EARLY, people. I’m not kidding.

Cinespia
I love coming here, but the line to get in is just TOO much.
I love this place, and I recommend coming here for a show (all of which are cheaper than a hamburger,) but the theater is SMALL and people LOVE UCB, so expect pretty long lines for shows here. You can avoid the stress of “will we or won’t we get in” by reserving your tix ahead of time online, but you’ll still have to wait in line to get in.

Strategically located in Westwood Village (right next to UCLA,) this cookie shop is famous for its cheap and delicious ice cream sandwiches. Pick a cookie (or two different ones if you’re feeling CRAZY,) and pick an ice cream flavor. $1.50 later and you’ll be in ice cream sandwich heaven. But if you come anytime after 8pm or so, be prepared to wait, college students with late-night munchies come here in droves.

They taste as good as they look. Really.

The cat’s been out of the bag for a while as far as this Downtown bar is concerned— expect to wait as much as an hour and a half on a weekend night.
Everyone’s still going nuts for this Korean taco truck brigade, so don’t be surprised when you have to wait 45 minutes+ for your kimchi quesadilla and short rib tacos.
Kogi
Short rib tacos! YUM.

While it’s technically not in Los Angeles, the waits here are legendary. Throw in the fact that you’ll have to wait in line with screaming kids and tourists in shorts, and you have yourself a less-than-ideal line-waiting situation.

People go NUTS for the ramen here just like people go nuts for the sushi at nearby Sushi-Gen. So don’t be surprised when you have to wait an hour for a seat here (or at Sushi-Gen for that matter).
Even though the whole cupcake craze of 2002 seems to be behind us, there always manages to be a line out the door at Sprinkles. Yay, diabetes!

Los Angeles' Longest Lines
Stay away if you don’t feel like waiting!
I don’t mean to be a hater or anything, but LAX might just be one of the world’s worst airports. The lines are horrendous and the design is INCREDIBLY flawed— not to mention it seems like they’ve been doing construction here since 1996. I shudder at the thought of having to come here— even if it’s just to pick someone up!

Pink's Hot Dogs
709 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles CA 90038
Whatever day of the week, whatever time of day, you can always count on a line at Pink’s, LA’s most famed hot dog stand, Pink’s puts almost ever other weiner to shame. What’s their secret? Nobody knows. The family-owned business has kept mum for the past 69 years.
Pink's
This looks more like a mess than a hot dog, but there are weiners in there. Somewhere…
Every spring/summer the LA Conservancy takes over the vintage Orpheum theater Downtown and screens classic movies. Sounds fun, right? Well, you’re not the only one who thinks so…
If you ever go to Father’s Office with me on a Friday or Saturday night you should bring snacks (baggie of Cheerios, Fruit Roll Up, etc…) because the line will be long and I will get “hangry.” But are the scrumptious blue cheese-spiked burgers and shopping carts full of sweet potato fries, worth my rage? You bet they are.

I went here a while back to try the famous dumplings and thank the good Lord I was acting like an old person that day and got hungry early. We got to this place right before it opened (at 5pm, I think) and there was already a line outside! We got seated pretty quickly, but if we had come out at a normal dinner time (say 7pm or 7:30pm,) we would have been waiting FOREVER.

The french dip sandwiches here are beyond legendary, which usually translates to VERY LONG lines.

Father's Office
Sure, there are other contenders for LA’s best burger, but Father’s Office will always be a favorite.
I’ve already voiced my disdain for Toast on Guidespot (see “So Overrated”), but the waits here for brunch on the weekend are REDONKULOUS. Stop waiting people, the food isn’t even that good!
