Columbia really is a jewel waiting to be discovered by anyone who hasn't passed through. What, on the surface, appears to be another mundane American college town actually a vibrant downtown area full of culture, friendly people, and great food. Exploring the various restaurants of Columbia was a wonderful adventure for me. Let me now guide you through the highlights of this adventure...

Located in the beautiful downtown of Columbia, Sake Japanese Bistro offers a full menu of Japanese cuisine. Staying true to their name, they also have one of the larger selections of cold sake I’ve found in a restaurant. If you’re a true sake adventurer, try one of their many sake martinis!

Indian food has a reputation for being spicy. Let me forewarn you, Taj Mahal upholds this reputation! Luckily for us, the staff provides a numbered scale for their food letting us know just how hot it is. (Just because the scale goes to 30 does NOT mean you should approach that number.)

In the mood for Asian food and just can’t make up your mind? Mongolian barbecue is just what you need! You choose which ingredients, how much of each, and which seasonings and sauces on in your dish. Hand it over to the chef and they do the cooking! What more could you ask for?

If thinking about lemon grass, peanut sauce, red curry, or basil tofu makes your mouth water, tuck a napkin in your collar and head downtown to the Thai Kitchen.

C C’s City Broiler

If you’re looking for the absolute best place to dine in all of Columbia, look no further. C C’s, without a doubt, serves the best steak I’ve tasted in my entire life. Serving only the top 2% of grade A beef, even their least expensive steak is a step above any chain’s best.

Do you really deserve a reward? Ask for the “Chairman of the Board”. Not only is this 14oz filet mignon from the top 2% of grade A beef, but it is the center cut of the filet, as well. Only two of these per cow.
