STAY AWAY FROM THE FLIPS AND OPT FOR.....

New York City isn’t a beach town. So unfortunately, there aren’t many opportunities to go stomp around in your flip flops. I wear my flips every morning on my walk to Stabucks and the sound alone is out of place. “Flip, flop, flip, flop…” People look at me like they’re trying to figure out which YMCA I’m headed to.

These are NOT ALLOWED.

....unless you want to look like a tourist. Running shoes are made for running ONLY. And that does not mean “running to the market” or “running errands” I mean, if these aren’t jogging to a gym, then keep them at home. Sure, they’re comfortable but please, if you’re going to do the casual thing, please keep the Asics to yourself.

SLINGBACKS: Very popular amongst the working women.

These heels are called: Unreasonable, BEAUTIFUL, only to be worn while seated or holding a glass of champagne.

Thank the heavens for the ballet flat and for Audrey Hepburn making them the coolest shoes on the planet. The key to the ballet flat is finding a pair with enough support that you don’t feel like you’re walking directly on the pavement. If you’re a shorty you can even find comfortable flats with a mini heel so you dont look- mini.
You can dress them up or dress them down, they’re office appropriate and you can still stay UP TO SPEED on the NYC streets. I reccomend a pair of black, a metallic pair and a more summery choice….open toe flat maybe?

Now these are completely acceptable. They dress up a summer dress or a pair of shorts and they require a good pedicure. Unlike the flip flop, sandals with a little bit of bling suit the NYC streets.

I have these. They are my favorite pair of sneakers ever. Sure not everyone wants to rock a pair of Nike Dunks because some people would look like fools attempting to relive their youth. But do not fear…there are other options out there that aren’t GYM ONLY wear.

Frye Boots are ALWAYS allowed. EVERYONE should have a few pairs of boots. BOOTS ARE AN IMPERATIVE NEW YORK STAPLE. Summer boots, winter boots, cowboy boots? We love. BOOTS.
