I'm Not in College, But I'm Still Young: Boston's Guide to Bars for the "In-Betweens"
.jpg)
In seems like all bars in Boston fall into 2 categories. Some are filled with frat guys, obnoxiously drunk college kids, and people in their early 20s. And the others are filled with sketchy 30+ year old men and cougars, either creepily hitting on younger girls or just being way too low-key and boring. So, where do you go if you're around age 25-29? Or do people in that age group just not go out? Because I know I'd like to go out, but I want to meet people like me who know how to have a good time without getting out of control. Where are the best bars in Boston to hang out at if you're a so-called "in-between"?
Vox Populi
Vox gets quite crowded, but you can tell that it’s nice and clean and filled with generally OK people.
Viox usually has a pretty good mix of people. It’s a little too nice for college students and the just graduated crew, but still in a good location and down to earth enough for the 20-somethings.
I’ve never seen a fight in Vox and you don’t generally see a lot of overly drunk people. There are a few older men who are always on the prowl for girls, but they definitely don’t make up the general population of Vox.

Vox's Special Events
Vox also has special events and parties, like the Sex and the City party, making it ideal for my age group. College kids and people just out of college think they’re too cool for these events, while the older crowd just usually doesn’t care.
Generally, Dillon’s is a good place for us “in-betweeners”. Sure, the occasional frat boy comes along in his Abercrombie shirt, but most of the bar patrons have been out of college for quite a while and are more mature than Lir, Pour House, or other places in the area. During the summer, Dillon’s patio is a great place to hang out and watch the game on the big-screen.
There’s also a very good looking bartender at Dillon’s, but unfortunately, he’s married and NOT in the “in between” category.
Oh, and if you go during eating-hours, their food is good!

Clink seems to be the overflow bar for all the late 20-somethings who didn’t plan enough in advance to go to Alibi, the downstairs lounge. While Alibi is a better all-around bar, Clink is normally a slightly younger crowd and a good second choice to Alibi.
