Ways To Green Your Apartment!
Basically, landlords suck! We can't change 'em, but we can change the apartment we're renting. Even if it's doing small things that make a big difference in the long run. We can even try to persuade our landlords to try the small things or better yet, try out our own green tactics on the place. Who knows, maybe your landlord will like the suggestions and front the money. All suggestions are welcome to help make our apartments just as green as they should be!
Replace Your Bulbs
Save energy in your apartment by replacing all of those energy hogging bulbs, with energy saving ones. You can get them pretty much anywhere these days.
Try to suggest to your landlord to replace all of the light bulbs in the building. That way, you won’t have to pay for it and you’ll be helping the environment.
Switch Your Pooper Scooper
If your landlord is excited about the idea of turing the building into a more green environment, try suggesting a toilet switch. The majority of toilets in older apartments use up more water than is necessary.
There are toilets out there that use less water and are haven’t had everyone and their mom from 1925 sitting on it.

Suggest Non-Toxic Paints
More than likely when you move into an apartment, they have been painted stark white and have been painted over 1 million times.
If you are unable to paint in the apartment, try suggesting to the landlord that non toxic paints will be better in the long run for your health and those who live their after you.
Then give her your best smile.
Note To Green Renters
When giving suggestions to your landlord, don’t forget to mention to him/her that they canclaim federal tax credits and incentives by doing eco friendly stuff to the building.
Tax credits for going green.
Caulk Your Windows
As a renter, it hurts to watch all that precious energy go out the window. Especially if you live in an older building with older windows, caulking is a cheap easy way to fix the energy wasting problem.
Seal up doors, windows, or anything where heat and energy can escape.
Surround Yourself With Green Things
Place plants in the windows of your apartment. Create a healthy, fun, and green environment. If anything, you’ll feel more relaxed if your landlord doesn’t listen to any of your fabulous green suggestions.
Use Green Cleaning Products
Meyer’s is a great cleaning product that is natural and smells like geraniums and spring time. Chemicals are nasty and make your apartment smell like a paint factory. Clean and natural is the way to go!
Plant Sunflowers For The Bees
Plant sunflowers in window boxes, on rooftops, or out front. Honeybees are having major problems this year, and this is one of their favorite flowers. And they’re our most diligent and efficient farmers. Save the bees!
