Oh, blah. Sometimes life deals you a crappy hand; sometimes you've just got the blues. Whether it's the weather or the circumstances, when you're down, you need to deal with it -- even if "dealing with it" means laying on the couch with a pint of Ben & Jerry's. Because the sooner you get through it, the sooner you'll feel better, right?
Drink
OK — hear me out. When you’re in a bad mood, getting out of the house and throwing back a few pops gets you relaxed and laughing. Which is a good thing.
But, much like sleeping, too much of a good thing can backfire…so be careful.
Rockfish

The best place to drink when you are down is the place where everybody knows your name. The Rockfish is that place, for me!
Sleep
There’s nothing like escaping into your bed with fluffy, familiar covers hugging you. Just be careful and limit this particular activity when you’re sad because, before you know it, sometimes four days have passed and you haven’t gotten up.
Music
It’s true. Music cheers me up. Even the sad kind that’s supposed to make me sadder cheers me up. I generally don’t buy actual albums like Schroeder up there, but usually files from iTunes and CDs.

New Accessories
I don’t know what it is, but buying new accessories always makes me feel about 1000x better! That and ill-advised hooking up, but new earrings last a lot longer…

Get Inked
Tattoos have historically gotten me out of ruts. I got this one when I was 20 and seriously strung out. A month later, my life changed.
I’ve gotten a few more since then. Each time I’ve experienced a life-changing event.
I’m due for another one.

Listen to Great Speeches
I’m usually down when someone screws with my psyche.
This speech Bobby Kennedy made the night Martin Luther King was killed is one of the most inspirational for me. He took the worst possible situation, applied his own wisdom from the suffering caused by his brother’s death, and turned it into the ultimate in forgiveness.
There were no riots in Indianapolis that night because one man spoke to them like adults. A speech like this reminds us of who we are and who we should be.
