Honor Thy Espresso: Denver's Best Coffee Shops

North Denver, South Denver, Downtown, it doesn't matter, what are your favorite places for a great caffeinated drink? Chains only count if you've got a good reason.
Stella’s gets a reputation as being largely for the college crowd, what with DU located nearby and all. While I can’t say this is completely ill-deserved, it doesn’t tell the full story either. Nooks all around the building’s various rooms allow small groups or singles to settle in for study or for conversation. Plus, it hosts live music by locals on weekends, always a fun time.

I go here solely for the horchatte. It’s a great Mexican-inspired espresso drink, but be warned, it’s incredibly rich, especially with whipped cream on top.

I know I said no chains, but this Starbucks deserves it. Despite being slammed most of the day (great location, next to the bus depot), the people working here are very pleasant and half of them know me and my usual order. Of course, I’m here at least a few times a week.

Espresso is the relentless pursuit of making espresso taste like what it smells like. And this place gets closer than any other. Hands down the best espresso & coffee in Denver. Expertly prepared, roasted on site, fresh, and fair-trade.

Let me be honest, I love supporting local coffee shops, and that is why I am posting Gallop. The management however, is not something I can speak so highly of. Get there early for a coffee in a real mug, and a patio seat with your pup! The inside is cute, but a bit small, so I tend to always hit the sidewalk patio. They have fresh pastries, sandwiches, and luscious treats, so bring your munchies!

Coffee is decent, but what I love is free WiFi! Yes, here I am in a business next door and I am still able to use their internet… sneaky sneaky… Don’t worry, I will buy a coffee on my way out!

Ok, I know it is in Boulder but I love their latte art. If anyone knows where I get latte art in Denver I would love to try it out.
