It's 5:00. You've finally escaped from the evil clutches of your office. But instead of going home, you need a beer or two. And maybe some food. After a long, tiring day at work, you need to get happy. And what better place to get happy than at happy hour?
Unfortunately, we live in Boston where happy hour has been outlawed! But that just means we can't get super-amazing drink deals. However, we can still have fabulous after work spots with delicious deals on food (just as important as the alcohol? Hm. Debatable).
Whether it's happy hour at a rocking dive bar or happy hour with food specials at a fancy spot you can't usually afford, Boston has some fabulous happy hour offerings. What's your favorite?
How can you say no to $1 oysters? McCormick and Schmick’s is one of those restaurants you might not be able to afford for dinner any old day of the week, but when it comes to their Happy Hour, you will be able to “splurge” on lots of their menu items. Burgers for under $4? Yes, please. Bring it on!
The outdoor seating is fabulous for a nice summer evening after work. And there’s lots of it! You are required to buy a drink to participate in the amazing Happy Hour deals, but that wouldn’t be a problem for you, would it?

Nothing better than a wrap and a plate of curly fries – or if you’re really daring, a lobster quesadilla! – at Harry’s after work. They’ve got awesome beers on tap and best of all, wi-fi…so you could theoretically just leave work early and work from here…hmm…sounds like a good idea!

Great cocktails and free appetizers? Comfortable chairs and a roaring fire in the fall & winter; umbrella tables and beautifully landscaped gardens in the spring and summer!
After a hard day’s work, who could ask for anything more, especially if you’re with your favorite work buddies. This is a great place to unwind, relax and connect.
Work is in Lexington so this spot couldn’t be more convenient for us.
Check out the awesome pitchers of white and red (my personal favorite) Sangria. Or, how about your own shaker of one of their signature cocktails? The problems of the day suddenly disappear as you bite into a shrimp or chicken popper, dipped into a spicy chili sauce….heaven!!
I used to go here all the time with my coworkers when I worked in City Hall Plaza.
Emmets is great for food, but for a more loungy atmosphere, I recommend going next door to 6B (it’s actually connected). They are known for their martini menu, but also have a fully stocked bar with beer, wine, and liquor. Appetizers are good, too!
