Ideally your hair should be in good condition before embarking down the ‘going blonde’ route. If you are even vaguely considering it then the time to start taking extra special care of your hair is BEFORE you slap on the dye.
Start paying attention to those lacklustre locks of yours beforehand to try and minimise the damage afterwards. Another thing to bear in mind is that if you have had any chemical treatments to the hair (ie perm/relaxed) wait a few weeks before attempting this and be very careful as your hair will be quite susceptible to damage. Bleaching hair will ALWAYS be damaging to the hair so if your hair is in bad shape to begin with, applying bleach over it is not exactly a recipe for silky shiny hair.

Remember to take into consideration the expense and upkeep of color-treated hair. We’ve all seen the bleached blonde with dark roots effect… not an attractive look! Roots should be touched up every 4-6 weeks. And that doesn’t mean re-dying, which will damage your hair over time. Retouching is the application of color to new growth at the roots only! The closer you stay within range of your natural hair color the better – if you don’t want to retouch.
Hair color can be used to cover gray, revive natural color or create a bold new look. Hair color can improve luster, add texture, and increase volume. Today, phenomenal color effects can be achieved in the salon, but if you just need to cover gray or change your natural color by a few shades, coloring your hair at home may NOT be the right choice for you.

The seasons change and so do wardrobes, so why not your haircolor? During my time here in florida, I notice alot of consumers like to stay with the same blonde, brown, red, black haircolor. During the fall and winter hair color should always be changed. Tones of hair color change, and we will see more Koppers, Red Koppers, Dimensional Reds, Deeper Blondes, Warmer Browns. It is important to not put your hair through summer foils all year long, and seek out your own color, Don’t run around with that same old next door neighbor color. Be a individual and express your own self.
