The Greatest One Hit Wonders
The reason I like Germans so much (besides Oktoberfest and Heidi Klum) is that they have a word for everything. To wit: schadenfreude. This translates as one's enjoyment and pleasure at the misfortune of others. And as much as I like to hate on bums and the usual dregs of society, it's the truly mighty that have fallen upon hard times that really get me feeling good about myself. Hence, the one hit wonder list. Feel free to go wild!
Young MC
Who didn’t dance to this song at their Jr. High formal? As much as I’d like to extricate this piece of trash from my mind, every time it comes out on the radio, I end up singing along and knowing 90%< of the lyrics.
Jonathan Lipnicki
I should be dragged out into the streets and shot for even knowing this kid’s name without having to google it. He was so goddamn cute in Jerry Maguire, but girls… look at him now! Growing up is a bitch, ain’t it?
please don’t start singing this chorus… it’ll get stuck in my head for days!
Come on, this is the best song ever. Such a female empowerment song. LOVE IT. I still rock out to this one.
Pogs
I never did understand why so many kids got into this shit, but it sure was popular. My FOB (fresh off the boat) Korean friends in middle school would proceed to rape all of the whiteys out of their expensive pogs with their homemade milk carton monstrosities… Hence the beginning of the end of the model minority stereotype at La Canada High.
God, I used to love this song SO much.

Groove is in D' Heart
Used to Used to This is the jam that makes my heart (and loins) beat uncontrollably every time I hear it, mswen. Don’t be ashamed!
Lou Bega
You have to give credit to a guy that based his entire career on a song even more objectionable than The Macarena. Lately, Lou Bega’s been trying to comeback (or so I hear) with Mambo number 15. Incidentally my mom absolutely loves this song and her chirpy Korean inflected version brings tears to my eyes everytime…
Mom: “Um… sandra, muh, muh, Jhesshica, muh, muh!”
Wow!
Comic Book Store Guy: “Worst… posture… ever…”
I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a ’64 Impala
These guys made a splash back in the early 90’s, but have since disappeared from the face of music.
Right Said Fred
To this day I still know all the lyrics, which either makes me really gay or…
I liked this one too. I even bought the album to listen to one good song, but I sold it to one of those “We buy CDs” places. I remember the guy laughing at me.
“It’s hard to be a baby”
It’s probably harder to be him now. In 2000 he found out that his dad must have swindled him because he was missing thousands of dollars. There’s a news clip about it on Youtube but I can’t understand French
