Your Favorite Holiday Movies
It's that time of year again when Walmart employees are trampled so that belligerent house wives can save 15% on Hannah Montana dolls. Avoid the drama and impending injuries by staying home and watching your favorite Holiday classics.
“No child wants to play with a Charlie in the Box!”
A Christmas Story
The story of Ralphie, his Red Rider, and his dysfunctional family is a Christmas Classic. Sure it may have gotten played out the last decade or so but there was a time when this film used to break the monotony of the previously overplayed standards.
“My lip’s bleeding Burt!”
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Easily beats out the Mickey Mouse version, 3-1. I always loved A Christmas Carol, and I always loved th Muppets (as most kids born between 1970 and 1989 did). So, in 1992, it was awesome that they made this flick. Plus, Michael Caine is a great Scrooge!
Elf tattoo
Someone obviously loves this movie even more than I do. I don’t think I would go this far.
Polar Express
This movie is great not only because of the great animation but also for it’s wonderful child-like North Pole fantasy. It makes me feel like a little kid again. that may be cheesy but I feel a lot less old when I watch this and remember why I love Christmas.
Bad Santa
would you like some sandwiches?
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Best holiday movie ever! Tim Burton is a crazy genius.
The Santa Clause Movies!
These are a favorite in my house. I wonder if they can come up with another story to make a Santa Clause 3.
Of course – ‘A Christmas Story’ is my number one favorite but it was already added.
Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas
I’ve always been a sucker for anything involving Kermit. Add the cute little Emmet Otter and I’m sucked in for good. This is only one of the cutest Christmas movies ever. And one I watched every single year while growing up.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
This 1964 animatronic special is a true classic. It both intrigued me a confused the hell out of me as a kid. “These aren’t cartoons are they? What’s going on here?!”
Yukon Cornelius, Herbie the elf, the abominable snowman, the misfit toys…..this film was great. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that plugged up voice of Rudolph, though. It still irritates me.
“You’ll shoot your eye out kid!”
It's A Wonderful Life
The quintessential film about Christmas, togetherness, and being grateful. When we received our first VCR in the early 80’s, we got this film with it. It was the only movie we had for a while so I probably watched it a couple thousand times. Plus, my mom would be pissed if she found out that I made a list like this and didn’t include it.
Gremlins
I don’t care what you say… this is a Christmas movie, and one of the best ever.
This is one of my favorite parts of the movie but really the whole thing is pretty friggin’ funny. I laugh, I cry, I drive my boyfriend crazy because I watch this one all year long.
A holiday movie in disguise......
as a love story. Which it is, but it’s actually the best holiday movie ever. Hm, I may go watch it RIGHT NOW.
The Holiday
All kinds of adorable. The perfect holiday chick flick.
Mixed Nuts
“In every pothole, there is hope.”
So true, Nora Ephron, so true.
A Colbert Christmas
An instant classic!
BTW, where is “Home Alone” on this list???
Best. Holiday. Movie. Ever. Hands down.
