Fun games to play on a rainy day

Share on StumbleUpon Add to del.icio.us Share on Facebook

It's dark and dreary outside and you want to have some good clean indoor fun? Well you've come to the right place my friend. Check out some games I played as a kid and some games I play with my kids now. I'm definitely up for learning something new so drop me a comment about the games you like to play.

YAHTZEE!!!!

Game Night

Many hours spent playing yahtzee with my family, friends and even complete strangers. Tons of fun and even now I still love to play. You just have to be ready to yell out, “YAHTZEE” at a moments notice.

Paper Football

You’re in school, it’s raining/snowing/tornadoing outside and you’re stuck in your homeroom. What do you do? Two words my friend, “paper football”.

How to Make a Paper Football

Now that I think about it, I have no clue how to make one of these footballs. Someone else must have always done it for me. Here’s how to make one if always had some friends like me and always did it for you.

Tripoley

Another game I played over at my grandparents house as a kid. Basically it’s like 3 games in one, Michigan Rummy, Hearts and Poker.

Tons of card games

deck of cards

War, Gin, Solitarie, Crazy Eights, Old Maid, Poker, Hearts, Go Fish, Canasta, Gin Rummy, Pinochle, Rook, Spades and a heap-ton of other card games I can’t even begin to remember I played a long time ago. Plus there were the countless games we just made up on the spot, those were pretty fun as well.

Hungry Hungry Hippos

I don’t think we ever kept score or even knew who won when we played this game. It was just fun to eat the little white balls at a frantic pace.

Balderdash

Did not play this as a kid, but I have a blast playing it now with friends. I LOVE coming up with crazy definitions, but after awhile people normally catch on to my schtick. Most times we’ve played we just used a dictionary and picked out random words.

UNO

76/366 - Uno

This game would normally last for a good long time and being able to “Skip” or “Draw Four” on your opponent was a blast. Yeah, I’m easily assumed.

Domnios

Domino effect

I pretty much played this exclusively with my grandpa as a kid. I haven’t played in years now. It was a good exercise in counting and a change of pace from all of the card games and bingo I’d play with my grandparents.

Penny Football

You’re in school, it’s raining/snowing/tsunaming outside and you’re stuck in your homeroom. You’ve played paper football for awhile and you’re sick of getting hit in the head with the football. What do you do? Two words mi amigo, “penny football”.

SORRY

Played this one a lot at home with the family. Good times and truth be told, I was never sorry sending anyone back to their “home”.

B-52, BINGO!

Bingo!

The grandparents LOVED to play bingo and so we did probably every time we went over to spend the night. “We have a winner, you may uncover your cards!”

Monopoly
