Fractals. A new type of cereal? a broken fragment of cement? No. Fractals are visual representations of mathematical formulas. Yawn you say? No... Fractals can be some of the most beautiful art in the world and just about any PC can produce them. All you need is some free software, a little time and a touch of geek

Common free Fractal software

The two I use the most and recommend is one called Apophysis 2.0 and Chaoscope.
Both are freeware, easy to use and can be easily found via your favorite search engine.
There are others out their like Ultra Fractal which is rather expensive but it can make some very complicated and fantastic images. The reason I do not recommend it for people starting out is it requires some mathematical skill and has a steep learning curve. With Apophysis or Chaoscope you can easily start rendering great images with minimul learning curve.

A solid Fractal

This was rendered in solid mode using Choascope. You could actually send the resulting fractal file to a hardware printer company who could then make your fractal into a piece of sculpture you could hold and display.
