Best and Worst of the Talking Heads
Recently I have been incensed by the talking heads. No, not those Talking Heads - Byrne, you and I are cool. It's the pundits. Some media outlets feel no remorse about putting any idiot who can whip up a quick sound-bite in their papers, on their shows, or, sadly, they give them their own show! Mind you, these shows are not marketed as daytime talk shows like Ricki Lake or as comedic entertainment like the Daily Show. These programs are marketed as the ultimate "no spin" "truth wagon" real NEWS shows. I thought I would vent my frustrations with this system.
Tip of the Hat (Keep it up, 'ole chap)
Terry Gross
This woman can talk knowledgeably about ANYTHING!! And direct conversations, and get her guests to say what they sometimes didn’t want to. THIS is a talking head I can listen to for an hour a day.
Stephen Colbert
Who sometimes does such a good job mimicking the worst talking heads that I loathe him. Then I remember it’s all satire and I laugh again.
I still can’t believe this happened. We have a great country.
I heard about this study that Conservatives don’t get that he’s JOKING! Talk about your all-time backfires!
Jim Lehrer
I think this is as close to non-perspective as a news show can possibly be. Keep up the great work, News Hour Team!
Notice the absolute absence of splashy graphics and useless technology. A model for all news show to follow.
Neal Conan - The Talk of the Nation
Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez - Democracy Now!
Because, “For true democracy to work, people need easy access to independent, diverse sources of news and information.”
Try the podcast and widen your news intake to include “the largest community media collaboration in the U.S.”.
Wag of the Finger (You Suck and Are Hurting Our Great Nation)
Glen Beck
Oh, god. I could barely bring myself to type this name into google to come up with this image.

Something that has yet to be discussed: how patriotic it is to repeatedly call our nation’s President “this guy”.
Also an amazing quote, “I don’t know exactly what this means, it’s something that I just feel.”
Dude, what a turd.
It absolutely breaks my heart to think that there are people out there that listen to this and take these comments seriously. FOX, you have finally topped yourself.
John Mackey
As CEO of Whole Foods, Mackey has had several shining moments spouting off his personal beliefs and then claiming that Whole Foods has nothing to do with it.
Um, Mackey, the only reason you got to speak was because you’re CEO of Whole Foods. It certainly wasn’t because of your good looks. Therefore, you can’t use the opportunity to spout off and then distance yourself from your company.
While you can agree or disagree or be totally confused by Mackey’s comments, the fact that he opened his big mouth and then tried to shirk responsibility as a CEO from these comments is pretty ridiculous.
Keith Olbermann
Although not the worst of the Talking Head offenders, Keith definitely is smug and talks about other pundits waaaaay too much.
I think “Countdown” was an attempt to imitate the right wing guys in a left wing manner (big words, said smug-ness). I say, screw all of these testosterone-pumped idiots and give us NEWS.
Jim Cramer - Mad Money
I’ve never watched a whole show. Its like WWF meets Wall Street. This guy is such a recognizable idiot, it makes his show totally and completely unwatchable. I don’t need the statistics to tell me this guy sucks at picking stocks. Who would listen to this dude?
I’ll give you patriotism.
