The name of the guide says it all-- did you chow down on Chex Mix and champagne after the clock struck twelve? Or did you try to cure your hangover the next morning with some bacon and a Bloody Mary?

Elijay's First Meal in 2009

The first thing I ate in 2009 was a breakfast of peanut butter, banana, and milk (this followed a night of champagne and chocolate cake— yum!) I wonder if it’s significant that I started off the new year like a five year-old. Let’s hope not.

Master Cleanser

Awful. All I had was lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper in water. I made myself go on the master cleanser!

Like s Slimfast shake, this crustaceasous cocktail is both a meal and a beverage.

A delicious bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich

My all-time favorite breakfast is incredibly bad for you and made perfectly by me. And I started off 2009 by indulging in it, effectively getting my “healthy eating resolution” off to a horrible start.

I usually make it on an toasted English muffin, but on this particular morn we had left over Italian bread from the previous night’s meal, so a slightly runny fried egg, super-crispy bacon, and a slice of American cheese went inside. A couple of shakes of Frank’s Red Hot sauce went on top and, voila, that was it.

YUM.

Happy New Year – I want to drink a grown-up drink, but still feel 9.
