This is our regular Wednesday morning run in Snow Canyon.

To be able to make it to work at a decent hour we have to meet at 5 am at the Bloomington Market. We then car pool over to Snow Canyon where we park on Snow Canyon Drive across from the service entrance for the Red Mountain Spa.

Run to the top of the canyon to where the road meets Highway 18 then turn around and run back to the cars.

On the way back to pick up the cars we stop for a drink at the Express Mart.

For most of the year the run up the canyon is in the dark. In the winter we sometimes encounter rain and occassionally snow. In the spring the sun starts to come up as we turn around at the top and run back down. The sunrise shinning on the western red navajo sandstone cliffs with the carpet of sage green vegetation provides an almost surreal landscape. This is one of my favorite times and places for running.
