Favorite Coffee Shops in NYC
A few months ago (before I knew guidespot) I was looking for a comprehensive list of coffee shops in NYC. I couldn't find one anywhere! I think we can make that happen. I need to diversify my coffee shops. Everyone has a favorite. What's yours and why?
Coffee and scrabble! They also have fun events, scrabble tournaments, live music and free Wi-Fi. They now serve beer, wine and cheese after a respectable hour. And no that hour is not 2 PM.

Coffee for hipsters and vegans. Finally a coffee shop with vegan treats! It is a coffee and cake shop by day, live music venue with coffee, cake and alcohol by night.

Fun with Lighting at Cake Shop
They also take fab pictures and have fun with lighting. I totally copied them.
Coffee for Hunter College students who don’t want Starbucks. Small coffee shop on the Upper East Side. They have huge barrels of coffee beans in different roasts and flavors that make it smell delicious!

Financier
62 Stone St New York, NY 10004
Coffee for Wall Street. They serve delish “not burnt” illy coffee and serious french pastries. Every cup comes with a little madeline. It is located on Stone Street which is like Italy in the Financial District. You just might meet the banker of your dreams while waiting for your morning pick me up!
Coffee for hippies. Small place but delish coffee and food!

Your favorite mud coffee in various locations around the city.
Coffee for trendy Tribeca. Mocca serves coffee and hummus! They have art on the walls and cute red couches. There is also wonderful Mediterranean food and fabulous cocktails.

Coffee for chill Tribeca residents. They serve coffee in real cups on cute vintage trays. They have salads, sandwiches and gelato in addition to normal coffee shop treats. They also have free wi-fi.

Broken Cup Cafe
342 E 22nd Street, New York, NY 11226
Coffee for moms and dads. Tiny local coffee shop right next to Peter Cooper Village. They have lots of magazines to peruse and games to play. Nice chill vibe when there aren’t too many kids around. Love this place!
I love hanging out here on a Friday afternoon, when the weekend is starting. Their lattes are rumored to be “the best in Manhattan.” Plus, their creme-filled cupcakes are awesome.

For me to love a coffee place, it has to a) make fantastic NOT burnt coffee and b) have a nice space. Seems simple, but you’d be surprised to find how difficult this is! Red Horse makes a great cup of coffee and the space is cozy, but not too small. So comfortable.

The Grey Dog's Coffee
I just found this place actually. Near Washington Square park, this quaint little coffee shop takes you away from the stressful city for a while. They have their very own coffee blends, one is even called Neighborhood Dogs. Check it out! Their coffee is to beg for!
Largest selection of espresso beans, espresso machines and imported italian goods. The Cerini’s offer an unmatched level of service. Located right on Arthur Avenue, it’s been a staple in the Little Italy section of the Bronx for over 30 years.
The address listed is wrong. Correct address is: 2334 Arthur Avenue, Bronx NY 10458
Note, they also have a fantatic website
www.cerinicoffee.com for all you espresso lovers out there. They ship across the entire US.
