My latest obsession is to find great food, a great glass of wine...and if I can find them at a great price, even better! Denver has some pretty fab hangouts that serve small plate portions off their regular menu during happy hour. Enjoy!

Caveau Wine Bar

Located on the corner of E.17th Avenue and Pennsylvania, this cozy wine bar has a fabulous happy hour everyday from 4-7 pm.  The pricing is simple: $3 drafts, $2 Sessions & Dab. Glasses of wine $12 and under $5. $13 & over 1/2 off.

A few small plates are offered – my favourite is the charcuterie plate.

Venice Ristorante & Winebar

1700 Wynkoop St Denver, Co 80202

Venice Restaurant on Wynkoop has my favorite Happy Hour Menu. An extensive small plate offering of non-traditional snacks as well as a variety of good quality wines by the glass. Try the Squash Ravioli. All plates are $3.50. Wines by the glass are $6. Best of all…Happy Hour is all day: 11-7 and 9-11.

Soleil

2817 E 3rd Ave Denver, Co 80206

This is a great place on a warm day. The outdoor terrace overlooks 3rd Avenue. Great for people watching. The white Sangria is quite tasty. Have a glass (or three) while munching on the Mediterranean influenced small plate and tapas menu. Happy Hour is Tuesday -Sunday 4:30-6:30pm and then again late night happy hour (or reverse happy hour, as they call it!) is Tue-Sat 10 – midnight.

BB's on Pearl

1475 S. Pearl St. Denver, Co 80210

The bar upstairs is lively and loud. Start out here for drinks and enjoy a fabulous dinner downstairs where the ambience lends itself to intimate conversation.

Root Down

1600 W. 33rd Avenue Denver, Co 80211

Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in. Our goal is to create a place where culinary sophistication is accessible and inclusive, rather than exclusive.

We love contradictions here. We are an earthy and sustainable restaurant, transformed from a once greasy service station. We are multi-layered but simplistic. We are rustic but refined. We like the idea of two opposing concepts working in unison to create a fascinating and eclectic vibe. Root Down embraces dynamic interactions, and hopes to create a story that you’ll want to be a part of as we continue to put down roots in Denver.

Avenue Grill

Small plates ranging in price from $2 to $6 are all available in full size portions on the regular menu.  Choose from Herbed Risotto cakes, Poststickers, Calamari, Oysters, Tempura gulf prawns. $5 Martinis, $6 Lemon drops, plus wine and beer specials.
