I stumbled upon Proto’s before ever hearing all the hype about it and it was no let down. My favorite part was watching the chefs throw the dough in the air so artistically it was like a dance. And, they serve a great list of beers. It’s fairly small and gets very busy, so go in when you have time to relax and really enjoy the atmosphere. Toppings range from standard meet and cheese to more gourmet veggies and cheese varieties.

Via is one of my favorite LoDo lunch spots for a business lunch. The patio is delightful on a warm sunny day and the pizzas come out with bubbly, thin crusts and gooey cheese that melts in your mouth. Split one with your friend and have a salad for starters and enjoy your Italian lunch.

Virgilio’s has been voted best pizza in Denver on paper and among foodies city-wide. The reason? True Italian style pizza crust that is perfeclt crusty and crispy. Fresh housemade Mozzerella and even homemade meatballs top this pizza, offered with white or tangy red sauce. The loyal customers here are also addicted to the garlic knots and spinach pinwheels. There’s a reason people keep coming back.

Famous really could be the most famous pizza in Denver. This is classic, NY style, fold it in two, slices of hangover helper. You’ll find Famous all over the city, with several clients wobbling back and forth late night while they slam a slice or two down to soak up the night’s alcohol. served by the pie or slice, it’s the perfect ending to a late night.

When bars are connected to pizzerias that deliver directly to your space at the bar, you have to look to the skies and give thanks. Two-Fisted Mario’s is connected to the awesome Mario’s Double Daughter and serves made to order pizzas or slices right to you. Or, go directly in and place your order to eat in or go. Most weekends, you’ll see bar hoppers carrying a to go box with pizza around Market and 17th, just waiting to nosh on a slice.

If I’m not eating thin and crispy I’m going to Basil Doc’s. With 4 locations across Denver, you should definitely stop in when you see one. The crust is perfectly chewy yet still crusty on the outside. And the pepperoni? SO good. Small, thick, slices of spicy meat that are all you need to top a perfect pie.

So you’re out at the PS Lounge and you have a hankering for a hunk of cheese…er, pizza? Enzo’s is connected to the PS and will deliver right to your barstool. Thin and crispy with no frills except for choice of sauce: Red or White. Do it. You won’t be sorry.

Sure you can go to Piatti and order a nice Risotto or delicious pasta, but with the wood burning fire oven, it’s hard not to order one of their individual pizzas. Think gourmet thin and crispy here. My favorite, with fig and balsalmic vinegar and prosciutto, is decadent and rich. Watching the chef slide the pizza into the oven and waiting for it to be done can be torture, but well worth it.

Anthony’s is also a denver tradition, with a few locations to choose from. This location on the 16th St. mall has walk up service selling slices to passersby or those waiting to board the train. Perfect , NY style pizza in a perfect location. You can fold it up and put it in your pocket to go.

Another original way to cook pizza being served right here in Denver. This Argentinian restaurant offers more unique ways to top your slice with offerings like chopped ham, egg, hearts of palm and other Argentinian secrets (like their special sauce). Don’t forget to try an empanada while you’re there. They are to die for and made fresh to order. For dessert, gellato. All this at one spot = heaven.
