My Favorite Programs on ExerciseTV
I have recently become obsessed with ExerciseTV. It is a free channel offered through On Demand. I love it because there are always new programs popping up, you can do them in the comfort of your living room and videos range between quick ten minute sessions to full blown workouts. The very best part is they are free. Here is a list of some of my favorites, though I haven't tried them all. Have you tried ExerciseTV and if so, what's your favorite program?
Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred
This woman is crazy, in a good way. I don’t watch the show, but she became famous as a trainer on The Biggest Loser.
Watch this video and you will find yourself jumping around your living room with weights, doing jumping jacks, push ups and lunges with zero breaks in between.
Jillian is happy to remind you that there is no modification for the jumping jack- you have to work for your results!
She’s tough and my abs are still hurting from yesterday.
Pilates Makeover with Nicole Stewart
I love Pilates, I just love it. Most of the moves resemble the exercises I did while at physical therapy for my knee, so I know they are really targeting the important areas.
It is relaxing, but you are definitely working all of your muscles the entire time so there is a good balance.
It also involves a lot of stretching, which is important and too often overlooked.
Hip Hop Body Shop with Lia Montelongo
Let’s face it, who doesn’t like learning new hip hop moves?
I liked this workout because instead of standing still between teaching the audience new techniques, Lia forces you to constantly move- you will really break a sweat.
The moves aren’t too challenging either, except I have yet to master the “kick and throw”…and once upon a time I was actually coordinated :(
BUT IT IS DIFFERENT. SEXY AEROBICS WITH CARMEN ELECTRA?
Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone
OK, so it sounds and looks super cheesy. And I guess it is. Walking? Really? A good workout?? Well, my living room isn’t very big so I figured walking was something I could handle. And… It’s actually kind of hard. It got me sweating! It’s a lot of walking and jogging in place, which is harder than you would think. I should probably invite over some 50+ year old friends to do this with me, but I’m not ashamed! Walking is the best exercise!
