It's not always easy living in South (Suburbia) Denver. Sometimes you wonder "how do all these beautiful housewives and hunks stay so fit?" Maybe they're spending lots of time playing ball with the kids, maybe they're doing yoga all day at home, I'm not sure. But I am sure that there are more things to do to get fit in Parker, Colorado than I could ever list here.
Something a little different
Looking for some ideas other than gyms? I’ve pulled together some of the lesser know places that are unique to Parker. Some of my favorites include rock climbing and hiking in Castlewood Canyon. Leave a comment if you’ve found any other gems!
We’re so lucky to have a state-of-the-art rock climbing facility in our own backyard open year-round. All ability levels can participate and plenty of lessons are available. This is a fun workout! Most people think you need strong arms to rock climb but most of the strength used comes from your legs.

Parker’s recreation guide includes activities such as personal training ($44/session), weight loss programs, pilates, yoga, running, etc. With so many options to choose from it’s best to visit their site and browse the numerous activities offered throughout the city’s parks and recreation district.
Register for classes, find sports leagues, and explore the many activities available in Parker. Purchase admissions for Park Recreation and get access to both the Parker Recreation and Fieldhouse facilities for as little as $37/month.

Castlewood Canyon State Park
2989 S HIGHWAY 83 FRANKTOWN, CO 80116
A day use park just a short drive out of town. If you’re looking to hike (no bikes) or rock climb this is a lesser known gem.
If you’re anything like me you want to do more but you end up settling on a cheap pass to a gym which you visit maybe a few times a week. These options are always available and always convenient—which explains why they’re so damn crowded in the morning and evening. My gym membership is only $19/month but I feel like I could always get more. Read on for some more options.
This is a ‘Sport’ club which means it has the basics. Cardio machines, weight machines, some free weights, a yoga room or two and a pool. Nothing fancy but not very expensive either.

Life Time Fitness
9250 CROWN CREST BLVD PARKER, CO 80138
Membership is a bit more expensive here but the facilities are great (and it’s 24/7, too). The gym has rock climbing, a spa, and even family pools. I’ve worked out at a facility very similar to this one and, I must say, the scenery is hard to beat. Wink wink. But honestly, you’re paying for all the extra amenities: plasma TVs, free towels and lockers, steam rooms, etc.
Meetup is a great way to meet new people and find new things to do. Recreation and fitness in groups is great because you have accountability to others. Browse the Meetup groups for fellow hikers, skiers, racquetball players, bowlers, and have fun exercising with others.
Listen to some tunes
No matter what you end up doing I’ve always found that music helps (when alone). The right playlist will always get you in the right mood, so pick accordingly. But don’t just take my word for it…
