Once known as Ocean Journey, the Downtown Aquarium - Denver got a new name and owner, and it now features over 300 species of underwater life in fourteen different habitats. Visitors can enjoy simulated tide pools and a touch exhibit that allows a closer, more interactive experience with the underwater world. Adjacent to the Children's Museum of Denver near downtown, the aquarium also has a restaurant which affords views of a fantastic 150,000 gallon aquarium.

Adults $13.75; Seniors (65+) $12.95; Children (3-11) $8.25; Children 2 and under are free.

The Denver Firefighters Museum uses a collection of priceless and interactive artifacts, photos, and documents to celebrate the history of the firefighters of the region. Located in the historic Denver Fire Station Nation No. 1, the museum is downtown near Civic Center Park. Children can enjoy a mock attempt to put out a "real" fire. The museum offers classes and summer camps and can be rented for birthday parties and receptions.

Recently having completed its major 2006 expansion, the Denver Art Museum's newest building was designed by renown architect Daniel Libeskind to resemble the Rocky Mountains and the geometric rock formations found in the area. The museum not only has a large collection of Renaissance and 19th century paintings, but also has a comprehensive collection of African art, American Indian artifacts spanning 2,000 years, modern and contemporary pieces and Spanish Colonial works. The museum is located south of the Civic Center Park, adjacent to the Denver Public Library.

Adults $13; Seniors (65+) and Students $10; Youth (6-18) $5; Children 5 and under are free.

From minerals and gems to wildlife dioramas to space exploration, the museum has abundant opportunities for families to learn and explore. Children should not miss the "Discovery Zone", which has scientific presentations and story times along with hands-on exhibits. Located on the eastern edge of City Park south of the Denver Zoo, the museum contains a planetarium, IMAX theater, extensive gift shop and restaurant.
Admission Details
Adult $10; Senior (65+), Junior (3-18) and Student $6. Separate charge for IMAX and planetarium.
