The 10,000 square foot Amaze'n Breckenridge is Colorado's largest human maze. This twisting, turning, two-level labyrinth not only offers prizes to those who can accomplish the maze the fastest, but also changes weekly to offer maze-enthusiasts something new to wrap their brains around. The complex is located at the bottom of the Peak 8 chairlift on the western outskirt of town.

The Wildlife Experience brings together hands-on exhibits, trivia, interactive art and more to help educate the community about the wonders of the world's natural habitats and the many forms of wildlife that live within them. Visitors to the center can enjoy exhibits based around more than 700 different native Coloradan species, as well as a fascinating area entitled "Vanishing Africa" that allows guests touch a hyena skull, examine a giraffe skeleton and learn about the endangered animals of the continent. Also featuring a cinema offering educational films, the museum is located in the southeastern Denver suburb of Parker, past Park Meadows Mall and Meridian Golf Club.

Visitors also may enjoy a look at a historic one-room schoolhouse as well as an early 20th-century farmhouse, both of which proffer a glimpse into life in Colorado in centuries past. The gardens are a part of the Chatfield Lake State Recreation Area, found on the southernmost edge of Denver's suburbs.

Ensconced amongst ponderosa pines, the Lookout Mountain Nature Center offers a first step to better understanding and enjoying the wilderness offered. The preserve is just north of Paradise Hills near the Apex Open Space Park. In 1917 Charles Boettcher donated his mansion and 110 acres of land to Jefferson County, and though the center was lived within the mansion, a new and improved structure was built in 1997.

The 23-acre Denver Botanic Gardens showcases 9,500 species of plants artistically displayed in over 30 exhibits. Exhibits include water-sensitive plants from the Rocky Mountain region, a small Japanese garden, a conservatory filled with tropical flora and a variety of lilacs. The gardens is visited year-round with its popular outdoor concert series in the summer to the thousands of twinkling lights in the winter. Located in the Congress Park neighborhood, the garden is sandwiched between two of Denver's favorite parks, Congress Park and Cheeseman Park.
