My favorite thing about the warm weather are the shoes, shoes, and more shoes. Oh, and flip flops. But those don't belong in this guide - because today I'm talking about hot, high, and sexy shoes. They come super-pricey and way cheap, and I love them all. Follow me for the best Boston-area sources.
Shoe freaks like me can never have enough pairs. It can border on an obsession. And, luckily!, there are plenty ‘o places to indulge. Here are some of my favorites.
Tip-Toes Platforms by Frye are at Anthropologie for $168.
Feminine, pretty, but dead-sexy shoes abound at Anthropologie. There’s nothing prissy or old-fashioned about their styles, and even though Anthro is becoming pretty mainstream, they’re shoes you won’t see on anyone else. Most styles are over (and some, well over) $100 so these certainly aren’t bargains.
My favorite pair of shoes from Marshalls is a pair from Ellie Tahari. They aren’t this particular pair…but wouldn’t it be so great if they were?
For a great selection of designer shoes at a big discount, you can’t beat Marshalls. Make sure to visit regularly to get first dibs on their new shipments.
Mohop sandals are handmade by my two BFF’s (I wish!) in Chicago. The wooden soles are equipped with loops along the sides, through which you can lace any ribbon to create tons of different looks. Unfortunately, this cuteness comes at a cost, with the low-heeled versions starting at $256.
If you, too, can’t resist, drop your big giant coin online.
The Hepburn C wedge from Bakers, on sale for $89.99.
Everyone’s favorite mall staple, Bakers, turns out some trendy shoes season after season, most for well under $100. You can pretty much always find knockoffs of what the celebrities are wearing here.
Stuart Weitzman’s Springfling, on sale for $208 at Zappos.
Free shipping? Free returns? It’s hard to beat Zappos. So I don’t try to. The brand list is astounding, and the customer reviews are so helpful they make or break your decision to purchase a particular pair.
Put on a pair of comfortable shoes (kidding!) and hit Newbury Street.
Newbury Street is the perfect place for shoe-watching. Wealthy, label-conscious college students who would never be caught dead in sneakers swarm this street of shops and restaurants like moths to a bright light, so plant yourself at an outdoor cafe table and behold the eye candy.
Running With Heels even has a Flickr group for people to post pictures of…well, their shoes.
Run – not walk – to see Jeanne Lee, the 2007 Best of Boston winner for Best Pedicure. Put it this way: her background in Chinese reflexology guarantees you’ll get more than just prettily painted toes.

Killer Kushionz from Foot Petals may have a cringe-inducing name, but you’ll be happy you bought them.
Foot cushions, like these made by Foot Petals, are now more discreet than ever, so you can wear them with just about any heel you own. So suck up your pride and buy a pair. Because you know that that means: you can ultimately buy more shoes!
