What The @#$! Were They Thinking?!
From sexy and geeky to strange and creepy, here at Guidespot we've pretty much seen it all when it comes to tattoos. By now you've had to wonder what those people were thinking. Well, I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a fresh batch of crazy tattoos that will make you cringe, laugh, scratch your head and ultimately ask, "What the @#$! were they thinking?!"
Tattoo Factory
4441 N Broadway St, Chicago, IL 60640
The Tattoo Factory has fun, friendly and talented artists on staff. I went here for my very first tattoo years ago. I was terrified, but my tattoo artist did everything he could to make sure I was comfortable. He didn’t even laugh at me for bringing my mom along!
Not for the squeamish. I have six tattoos and work with cadavers and even I had a hard time looking at this.
Skin Carving
This is the easy-to-look-at picture.
Shred's Inferno
4304 W 63rd St, Chicago, IL 60629
I’ve only read/heard great things about Shred’s Inferno. Don’t let the name fool you. It might sound scary & uninviting, but it’s one of Chicago’s most underrated tattoo parlors.
Secret Identity
Okay, this looks really painful, but also bad ass.
So is he trying to scare away every woman who sees him shirtless?
Tomato Tattoo
1855 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Tomato Tattoo has great reviews and a clean, comfortable and professional atmosphere.
AZ
I’m not really sure what’s going on here.
…
Birthday cake is a lie?
I only wish I knew what was going on here.
Cherry Bomb Tattooing
1579 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Cherry Bomb Tattooing is a smaller tattoo parlor, but it definitely doesn’t lack talent. It’s been recommended to me, but I haven’t had a chance to swing by yet.
Zombie Elvis
Well this gives new meaning to “long live the king.” Also, why is there a female alien below him?
Jade Dragon
5331 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60641
Jade Dragon might be the most well-known tattoo/piercing shop in Chicago. I’ve been there for piercings, but not tattoos. I wasn’t impressed though. I’ve read mixed reviews. There are those who swear by it and others who believe it’s going down hill.
Chicago Tattooing Company
1017 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657
The Chicago Tattooing Company has mixed reviews. It’s been recommended to me, but after looking around a bit, I’ve found that some people have had a less than pleasant experience with the receptionist. From what I can tell, the work and cleanliness of the place is par.
Do you see it?
Does anyone else think he looks a little bit like Locke from Lost?
Tatu Tattoo
1754 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Pro: You don’t need an appointment here, unless you’re planning something big or need one of the artists to help you out.
I’ve only been here for piercings, so I can’t say much about their tattoo artists.
And tomorrow he gets kicked off the team.
Taylor Street Tattoo & Body
1150 W Taylor St, Chicago, IL 60607
Taylor Street Tattoo is known for its clean, professional and friendly service. I didn’t know it existed until I started researching for this guide, but so far all of the reviews I’ve read are positive.
I couldn’t post the picture of a needle going into someone’s eye. But if you’d like to take a peak, well, go for it.
I’m pretty sure this is face paint, at least I hope it is.
Spread em
I’m sure his mom/girlfriend/therapist/parole officer is very proud.
Deluxe Tattoo
1459 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60613
The only negative reviews I’ve read were advertising for another tattoo parlor. I can’t really take their review seriously. Everyone else has seemed really happy about their experience with the artists at Deluxe Tattoo.
Does this mean she has a tiny cat that likes to walk around her neck? I like cats just as much as any other sane, non-crazy-cat-lady, but not enough to tattoo them on my body.
