Less Expensive Mother's Day Brunch in Boston

Share on StumbleUpon Add to del.icio.us Share on Facebook

Of course your mom deserves the best, but that doesn't mean you can neccessarily afford the best just yet. Many Boston restaurants are charging an arm and leg for Mother's Day brunch, but some really high-quality restaurants are also offering good deals.

Here are the best Mother's Day brunches in Boston, most for under $50/person.

The Fireplace

And there’s a fireplace in the corner too! Just in case Mother’s Day happens to be a little chilly. You never can tell with the weather this time of year.

The Fireplace has a special Mother’s Day brunch buffet for only $33/person ($10/child) . The brunch menu is very extensive, though it wouldn’t really matter to me as long as they have their eggs benedict, which they do (it is SO good). Also amazing is the challah french toast.

My mom and I have spent many a brunch at the Fireplace and always leave satisfied. Your mom will love it too!

The Odyssey Brunch

The boat you’ll be brunching on.

This is a bit more on the pricey side, but it’s a lot more special than simply eating brunch in a restaurant. The Odyssey allows you to enjoy Mother’s Day brunch while cruising around Boston Harbor.

There’s an early brunch, from 10-noon, for $56.90. It includes a flower for mom, a glass of champagne or a mimosa, live entertainment and brunch. There’s also an afternoon brunch, from 2-4, for $60.90, and it includes the same as the above, plus a goodie bag and balloon artist for kids.

Boston Harbor cruises always promise pretty views and a lot of fun. Definitely a good choice if you want to do something different for mom this Mother’s Day.

33 Restaurant

Sleek and sophisticated 33 Restaurant.

33 Restaurant is another great, more affordable choice for Mother’s Day brunch. At $49.95/adult, you can eat all the shrimp from the raw bar that you want. Not to mention, there’s an omelet station and waffles and crepes made to order.

33 has a nice, elegant atmosphere. I’ve been to an evening event there and it was super classy (though drinks were $12…ouch.)

Parker's Restaurant

They’re famous for their parker rolls.

Parker’s Restaurant at the Omni Parker House has one of the best sounding brunches for $48/adult. I would love to see if their eggs benedict matches up to the others I’ve had. And the banana stuffed french toast with cinnamon maple butter sounds absolutely amazing.

The whole menu is making me drool.

Ridiculously Expensive Mother's Day Brunch

OK, so maybe you’re rich. And all these ideas sound cheap and lame to you. Then I suggest you go to Taj Boston for a buffet in the grand ballroom. For $98/adult, you’ll get chilled seafood, caviar and blini, sushi, and more. Plus a “grand finale dessert fantasy,” whatever that is.

There will also be a live jazz trio and a photographer for all your family portrait needs.

Hey, if you can afford it, why not? Mom sure will appreciate it!

Where to go for Mother's Day Brunch in Boston

Boston Museum of Science

Make an day out of brunch by dining at the Museum of Science. The museum is offering a Mother’s Day buffet brunch, created by Wolfgang Puck, for $49. The price of the brunch also includes admission to the museum, discount parking, and a “special gift” for mom.

If you can’t make it to the Mother’s Day brunch, the MOS does the same deal for Father’s Day.

Bravo at the Museum of Fine Arts

Bravo at the Museum of Fine Arts is another great brunch idea if you want to make a day of it. Brunch is only $34/adult and then you’re free to roam the art museum (I think you need to pay extra for admission). And if you’re a museum member, you automatically get 15% off.

The menu looks fabulous and includes appetizers like ruby red grapefruit with aged parmesan, fava beans, and wild arugula (how unique!). And entrees like New Bedford sea scallops with soy bean puree, spiced peanuts, and orange miso vinaigrette.

The desserts also sound delectable- they have smores!

Beacon Hill Bistro’s dining room has a unique setup.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston and Mother’s Day brunch is only $38/adult. Seems like a fabulous deal!

Options on the menu include things like brioche cinnamon french toast with cider braised apples and spiced creme fraiche and roasted lamb leg with slow cooked tomato stew and mint pesto.

Lilac Sunday

So beautiful!

Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum just happens to fall on Mother’s Day, so after brunch, you should definitely get over to Jamaica Plain to stroll around the arboretum.

Or you can bring your own brunch to the arboretum and picnic on the grounds while watching Morris dancers and taking in the beautiful lilacs.
