Heartsaver CPR in Schools

<font class="content">

The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver® CPR in Schools Course is designed to teach middle and high school students the lifesaving skills of CPR, how to relieve choking, and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator).

The course was designed to appeal to students through illustrations of teens and a unique training video featuring interviews with teens and edgy video footage. Also, the course’s modular format is intended to offer schools with the flexibility to teach the course over several class periods.

While Heartsaver CPR in Schools is one of several options schools can use to provide CPR training to their students, it is the only course that offers a credential or course completion card upon successful completion.

Audience:

This course was specifically designed for middle and high school students. Schools that want to provide CPR and AED training to their students and also want their students to receive a Heartsaver CPR in Schools Course Completion Card should use this course.

The American Heart Associations’ Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) programs are comprised of healthcare professionals - like yourself - at various levels ranging from local to regional, state and national.  The American Heart Association and the healthcare community are key partners in the continued development and improvement of our national and international Emergency Cardiovascular Care programs.  We continue to work towards improving the science and obtaining a better understanding of the various disease processes that all healthcare providers battle.  We are committed to understanding how to develop, disseminate and implement training to support those who educate, train and certify providers and implement healthcare programs.

The American Heart Association is the recognized leader in resuscitation science and training.  The ECC program also develops, publishes and disseminates the science of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care and first aid internationally.  In coordination with various national organizations, the AHA publishes guidelines and scientific statements recognized as the international standard and help to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

The overwhelming strength of the American Heart Association’s training program is  “quality.”  This is achieved through our continued support of science and research in the field of emergency cardiovascular care.
