Just when you thought you were cool for ironing a leaf in between two pieces of waxed paper, Andy Goldsworthy had to go and eff it all up for you with his mindblowing leaf art. Call me crazy, but Goldsworthy's designs manage to whimsically connect me to nature in an almost spiritual way. Here's to autum, and its crackling brown leaf piles, the scrape of rakes in the mud, and these gorgeous bursts of color.

Imagine what you might think if you were just prancing through the woods and suddenly stumbled upon this little arrangment.

The color gradient arrangements are my favorite. It’s pretty tragic that the artist just leaves the installments in the wild to be blown away. Photo Credit

This one blows my mind. From what I gather, he pieces the fresh and dry leaves together to make a bright green splotch. Photo Credit

Check out the documentary, Rivers & Tides, to see Goldsworthy in action with leaves, clay, ice, driftwood, rocks and other found objects of nature.

I used to love pressing leaves and even had a special little book that screwed close. I was 8. But still. These are SO much cooler!

And suddenly my leaf rubbings don’t seem that awesome.
