This Guide Has Been Closed! We have made a decision, read about it below. Guidespot recently added a new feature where you can comment on individual guide elements within a guide. You can comment on a photo, a link, a business listing, a map... yup, anything! We are happy to see that lots of you are enjoying this new tool, and now, now we need your help to name this cool new feature! Below is a list of some of the name ideas that Guidespot HQ came up with... Some are actual names, while others just sounded funny to say. Let us know which you like, if any, or add your suggestions to this guide!

CLOSED: We Made It Easy and Named them Comments

No really, after all of that brainstorming, we wanted to leave it simple with Guide comments… To avoid confusion, we renamed all around guide comments to discussions.

Thanks for your ideas and contributions!

Guidespot In-Guide Comments Gets a Name ---------------->

Guidespot Added a New Feature, and it Needs a Name

The ability to comment on individual elements within a guide is a new community feature on Guidespot, and there is really nothing like it on those other online content platforms… So, yeah… We are feeling cocky and proud. ;)

Obviously, there is always room for improvement, and as we work to enhance the new feature, we would love your help in naming it…. Because I can’t  stand saying, “commenting on individual elements.” There is nothing sexy about that.

Commenting Feature Example

chirp, peep, globule, trickle, gobbet, shoot (like a peashoot?..but a g-shoot? might sound too gangsta).

what about:

love or hate?
fly or funk?
hawt or not?

or:

holla back?

What About...

Get it, Smack it, Whack it, Click it, Smear it?  Something along those lines to make you want to do something to it….
I would definitely go there.

There are two ways to interact via commenting on a guide, and here is what we renamed them. We renamed them with basic names to help current users and new users understand these awesome features:

1. Commenting Within a Guide: You can make a comment within a guide, on an individual guide element. The author can control if the guide shows initially with expanded or collapsed in-guide comments. As a user, you can also click on or off the option to have in-guide comments collapsed or expanded.

2. Discussing a Guide: You can discuss an entire guide, and interact with other authors by replying to their discussion points. Most users like to utilize the discussion tool to chat about the guide in its entirety, or give general input.

Users now have the option to expand or collapse the Comments within a guide, based on their preference.

    Ellies

Since we are commenting on individual "elements" how about shortening the word “elements” to “ellies” or “elly”

I don’t know about you guys, but I think having  “comment” on there makes some good sense— why not change the name of the old comment function? Maybe change the old comment function to something like “write a note” (ala Alexis’s suggestion) “review this guide,” etc… I totally just avoided the whole question didn’t I?
