The Voyage to the Center of the Earth ride is a perennial favorite as inner tubes take small groups back in to the prehistoric times through underground waterways. The park is located in the Federal Heights area, near Westminster to the north of the city.

The impressive 83-acre Denver Zoo is home to Bear Mountain, considered to be the first "natural-style" zoo exhibit in North America. Animal enthusiasts can gawk at polar bears in Northern Shores, gander at the lions at Predator Ridge and view amphibians and fish in Tropical Discovery. When the weather is nice, visitors can take a spin on the beautiful handcrafted carousel or tour the zoo with a natural gas-powered train ride. The zoo is adjacent to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science inside City Park, a 300 acre park maintained by the city.

Exhibits include water-sensitive plants from the Rocky Mountain region, a small Japanese garden, a conservatory filled with tropical flora and a variety of lilacs. The gardens is visited year-round with its popular outdoor concert series in the summer to the thousands of twinkling lights in the winter. Located in the Congress Park neighborhood, the garden is sandwiched between two of Denver's favorite parks, Congress Park and Cheeseman Park.

Adjacent to the Children's Museum of Denver near downtown, the aquarium also has a restaurant which affords views of a fantastic 150,000 gallon aquarium.

The Museum of Contemporary Art has strived over its existence to help bring the knowledge and appreciation of today's modern art to the Denver community. Guided tours of the facility offer a more in depth, interactive way of viewing the art and can be reserved for students numbering more then ten. The museum just moved into a new building downtown, and is now located just north of the Pepsi Center.

Recently having completed its major 2006 expansion, the Denver Art Museum's newest building was designed by renown architect Daniel Libeskind to resemble the Rocky Mountains and the geometric rock formations found in the area. The museum not only has a large collection of Renaissance and 19th century paintings, but also has a comprehensive collection of African art, American Indian artifacts spanning 2,000 years, modern and contemporary pieces and Spanish Colonial works. The museum is located south of the Civic Center Park, adjacent to the Denver Public Library.

Completed in 1982, the 16th Street Mall is a shopping, dining and transportation hub covering more than a mile. The mall can be accessed by a variety of transportation including walking, free shuttle bus, bike taxis and horse drawn carriages but cars are only allowed on the side streets and not on 16th Street. Situated between Tremont and Glenarm Streets along the mall, the Denver Pavilions is a large complex that includes restaurants, stores, bowling and a movie theater. With its free WiFi and plenty of benches for people watching, the mall brings out a diverse population from students to business people to street performers. The mall is a few blocks from the Colorado Convention Center and Coors Field in downtown Denver.

The Boettcher Concert Hall was America's first theater-in-the-round and is home to the Colorado Symphony Orchestra while the recently renovated Ellie Caulkins Opera House is home to Opera Colorado and the Colorado Ballet. In addition, the complex showcases plays, concerts and musicals in the diverse space. Set in the heart of downtown Denver, the Colorado Convention Center features 584,400 square feet of available exhibition space, divided into six major areas of various sizes and functions. In addition to its large group spaces, the center has 63 smaller meeting rooms and the 5,000-seat Wells Fargo Theatre. Services provided for attendees at the convention center include a full business center, multiple ATMs, Internet services and a gift shop. Viewed from downtown, the center's most recognizable feature is the sculpture of a large blue bear, rearing up on its legs as if peering curiously into the building. Located conveniently close to many hotels and at a hub of the city's light rail system, the center is close to the Denver Performing Arts Center, the Denver Art Museum and the popular LoDo shopping and entertainment district.
