The International Drink Guide
Beverages get us through the tough times. There are beverages that hydrate, beverages that caffeinate, beverages that intoxicate, and beverages that impregnate. OK, that last one is not true (as my best friend found out in 7th grade), but my point is, beverages are AWESOME. What are some trendy bebidas that are getting some major play in YOUR city? Some that are making a comeback?
Maker's Manhattan
Well, thank Karey Ann for the resurgence.
Flatliner Martini
Alright, there is the mistaken notion out there that a Flatliner has something to do with sambuca and tequila. That, my friends is a travesty.
A Flatliner Martini is one hell of a beautiful drink. Guaranteed to give you a swift kick in the bum:
3⁄4 oz Kahlua Coffee Liqueur,
3⁄4 oz. Amarula African Cream Liqueur,
3⁄4 oz. Frangelico, 3⁄4 oz Vodka
and a shot of fresh espresso.
Add a DASH of Bacardi 151 to top it off.
Shaken and served up.
Ohhhhh, yes.

Coconut Water
Coconut water can be found in young coconuts. It’s the new health drink in the Bay Area – very hydrating while low in calories and sugar.
The Sidecar
The Sidecar – inexplicably popular in Oakland.

Mojitos
For some reason (maybe because they’re delicious!) mojitos are SUPER popular here right now. It’s probably because we’re in Boston and it always seems wintry and blah and mojitos make us think we’re on an island somewhere!

Fernet&CocaCola
All day everyday – this is THE drink in BA. It’s the effervescent beverage that’s good for digestion and gets you buzzed. What could be better?
Absinthe
In New York, cocktail bars a la speakeasy-style were all the rage, but as usual, in a New York minute, they will fade (and already are). Absinthe has its 15 minutes of fame, after which everyone realized (or at least I knew because I’m SMART and surrounded by DUMB people) that it wasn’t really illegal.
I have had homemade absinthe hailing from a friend’s mixology lab (his kitchen/back yard in Brooklyn) and man that’s some craaaaaazy stuff!
PBR
Not that PBR ever went out of style per se, but it’s definitely in style now. Hard to go to a bar these days without seeing some hipster in skinny jeans who probably rode his fixed gear bike to the bar, drinking a tall can of Pabt’s finest beverage.
