This is a visitor guide to the neighborhood in and around the DNC Convention in August 2008 in Denver, CO. It's a great neighborhood, enjoy yourself! Authored by someone who works one block from the convention headquarters, so you know you're getting a truly local guide.
For traditional & historical, try the Oxford or Brown Palace. For upscale boutique, Hotel Teatro is top notch and Monaco is fun. For a great chain, the Hyatt Convention Center is new and excellent.
Obama-esque! Hip, urban and close to the center. Discriminating, some would call it, kind of like Jeremiah Wright! Very close to Larimer Square, the best shopping and dining block in LODO.

The grandest old hotel of Denver, with top tier amenities and excellent food and bar features. Very GOP-ish: lots of dark wood and clandestine conversation! If the walls could talk in this place, Fox News would be all over the place!

A traditional historic inn, one of the true anchor establishments in LODO (lower downtown). Expect great service, good food. The “Cruise Room”, an art deco lobby bar is not to be missed. Think Cruise Ship, not Tom (Freakish) Cruise.

Tamayo is a the spot for excellent New West cuisine – Mexican and Spanish influences, with fresh ingredients. Very inventive cuisine, in a great casual upscale spot. A great place for Hillary to brag about her guacamole-infused upbringing.

Brauns and Brooklyns (below) are a short stumble from the Pepsi Center. Pub food and mammoth sports bar spaces, both housed in renovated warehouses.
Dare to dance in front of the paparazzi. What could possibly go wrong? I’m guessing Obama dances as well as he bowls, and I just would NOT want to see Hillary shaking that fuschia clad booty. Now, Bill, that’s another story…
